Full 360° launch campaign for MCM’s first-ever fragrance — featuring the world’s first beauty commercial produced using virtual production and Unreal Engine.

SWELL partnered with MCM and Inter Parfums to launch MCM’s first-ever fragrance — a milestone for a brand known for leather goods and accessories entering the $34 billion global fragrance market. The centerpiece of the campaign was “Travel Beyond,” the world’s first beauty commercial produced using virtual production technology and Epic Games’ Unreal Engine — the same real-time 3D engine that powers the LED volume stages used in Disney’s The Mandalorian. Shot in Brooklyn, the commercial blended virtual and natural worlds, transporting an eclectic cast through shifting cityscapes and serene cyber-scenery as MCM’s iconic Stark backpack morphed into the fragrance bottle. The creative concept centered on duality — heritage meets modernity, craftsmanship meets street culture. SWELL developed a visual language that threaded through every touchpoint: the hero virtual production commercial, social assets, e-commerce photography, and in-store activations. By pioneering virtual production in the beauty category, SWELL demonstrated that XR filmmaking techniques previously reserved for blockbuster entertainment could deliver equally compelling results for luxury brand campaigns — at a fraction of the time and cost of traditional on-location shoots with comparable visual ambition. SWELL’s integrated creator and talent partnership strategy drove cultural relevance at launch. By aligning with fashion-forward voices across Instagram and TikTok — creators who genuinely connected with MCM’s aesthetic — the campaign generated authentic buzz that traditional media placements alone could not achieve. The results spoke for themselves: the fragrance sold out within 24 hours of launch, with Inter Parfums reporting that initial sales and sell-through were “far ahead of initial projections.” Production was handled end-to-end by SWELL and its production arm, Max HP Productions, with creative direction by Tarik Malak. From virtual production stage setup through post-production and final delivery, the entire campaign was managed under one roof — ensuring creative consistency across broadcast, digital, and social channels. The MCM campaign established a new benchmark for what virtual production can achieve in beauty and luxury advertising.
