    SWELL is a new kind of full-service creative agency specializing in fashion, beauty, lifestyle and luxury brands as well as high-growth tech startups. Innovative digital strategy and visually-striking content are at the heart of our focus. We also boast some of the best Table Tennis players in the creative industry.

    What does full-service mean?

    It means we provide the complete package, from concept development through production to post-production and realization. It also means our creative concepts thrive in any format; stills, video, web, interactive, everything (excluding posable action figures at this time).

    Do you guys do mobile apps?

    Yes

    SWELL has always been a full-service creative agency, though when we first started out we made a name for ourselves mainly through videos and content. We got so good at it that people often primarily associate SWELL with this aspect of what we do. When we expanded we decided to reward our post-production team with an official department and title of their very own.

    What is TN'T?

    TN'T is a symbiotic directing organism made up of two humans; SWELL Founder & CCO Tarik Malak and VP Creative Timothy Douglas. Though ordinarily operating as individual directors, the pair combine their vision and experience to form the directorial super-being whenever the creative world is threatened.

    SWELL is the brainchild of Parisian entrepreneur Tarik Malak. After a multifaceted career in Paris’s advertising industry that included everything from strategy to photo production to creative direction, Tarik moved to New York City, where he founded the photo retouching company La Boutique.

    During this period, Tarik worked with prestigious magazines including Italian Vogue, Teen Vogue, Vogue China, i-D, POP and Harper's; brands such as D&G, Swarovski, L'Oréal, Nike and Target; and photographers Craig McDean, Jason Kibbler, Sebastian Kim, Guy Aroch, and Ryan McGinley. Meanwhile, he became a tech start-up angel investor and advisor, growing his network of tech entrepreneurs.

    Tarik saw further opportunity in disrupting the traditional structure of agencies by combining the advertising, technological and brand content experiences all into one place. He wanted a new kind of agency, so he sold La Boutique... and SWELL was born.

    Tarik understood that talent was key and that a new kind of agency needed a new breed of talent - not only able to operate creatively on a conceptual level, but on a practical one too. He needed thinkers AND doers in one agency.

    That is why, at SWELL, our creatives are also storytellers, video editors, filmmakers, musicians, and sound designers. Our copywriters have scriptwriting or journalistic backgrounds. Our Art Directors are solid interactive designers or AE artists and our Account Mangers are strategists, operating at the core of productions. SWELL is, first and foremost, a group of creatives and innovators with a passion for crafting unique, high-end content just for you.

  • For the big Shopbop relaunch, SWELL came up with a global concept: Having Shopbop literally launch designers via catapult to customers.

    SWELL crafted a full campaign leveraging both earned and paid media and created a series of hilarious videos featuring numerous designers and fashion celebrities, who also helped distribute the videos.

    The concept was also leveraged to create an online game featuring the designers and celebrities as animated characters.
